Dont Wake the Kitty How to Steal Kitties Without Waking the Giants
Approach from the sleep side, commit to one steal, and run home before greed wakes the map.
How to steal in Dont Wake the Kitty is the whole pitch: sneak, take a sleeping kitty, survive the guilt trip of a giant Hello Kitty opening her eyes. This page is the practical grab — not the mythic hunt, not the raid on someone else’s plot.
If you have not placed a single Common yet, do getting started first. If you already drop every Rare at the plaza, stay here.
Read the room before the prompt
Giants sleep in lanes. Small stealables cluster around their feet because the game wants drama. Your job is to pick a target whose path home does not cross a snoring hitbox.
Stand still for two seconds. Watch Z’s. If the giant twitches, wait. Players who mash Steal while the guard is in a stir animation are the ones who create the chase montage.
Countdown boards in the background tell you a Legendary is coming. That is bait. A Common in hand beats a Legendary you woke and dropped. Boards are explained on map and spawns.
The steal itself
- Equip nothing that plays a loud emote.
- Crouch-walk if the update still has a stealth speed; otherwise just stop sprinting for the last four steps.
- Face the kitty so the Steal prompt is centered. On PC that is often E; on mobile it is a button that fights jump — see controls.
- Hold until the kitty is in your arms. Tapping once can fail on lag.
- Turn toward your plot before you start sprinting so the first frames of run are already aimed home.
Do not spin for a screenshot. The prompt drop plus a giant’s wake radius is smaller than your pride.
Carry rules
You are slower or at least clumsier while holding. Jumping off ledges can yeet the model. Grappler is allowed mid-carry in current clips — Ara-Ara-style sessions zip home with Kuromi in hand. If you do not own a grappler yet, take stairs and ramps.
If a second stealable sits on the way home, ignore it. The game will spawn another. Your pad will not.
World steal versus plot steal
World spawns are PvE. Plot steals are PvP. Unlocking another player’s pad may require a paid steal or an unlocked base. Chat in beginner videos debates a ~49 Robux lock/steal gate — treat the number as “there is a Robux friction,” not a forever price. If the prompt demands Robux you do not want to spend, leave. Farming world spawns is still the best income path for new plots.
Never start a plot raid with a full inventory and no lock on your own house. You are asking to trade a Mythic for a Common.
Abort conditions
Cancel the approach if:
- Two giants overlap your exit
- A player is already stealing the same model
- Your plot is being raided (turn around, defend, read protect)
- You are on 10 HP equivalent / just got slapped and the grab would happen in the wake radius
Abort is a skill. The stealth checklist has this as a checkbox on purpose.
After a successful pad
Index tick, sign check, decide upgrade using rarity tiers. Then wait a beat before heading out so you see if a raider followed you home. The steal is not over until the kitty has been on your pad for a few seconds without a prompt on it from someone else.
When you want rarer targets, graduate to how to get mythic. When you want to not die, how to escape is the sister page. Steal and escape are one motion split into two articles so each can hold a single video.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for stealth runs, steals, and base defense.
What button steals in Dont Wake the Kitty?
The on-screen Steal prompt. PC often uses E. Mobile uses a HUD button that can overlap jump — see controls.
Can I steal from other players?
Yes, if their pad is unlocked or you pay the steal gate. Defend your own plot first with how to protect.
Why did the giant wake when I was quiet?
You entered the wake radius, stole a kitty at its feet, or another player triggered it. Distance matters more than crouch.
Should I steal during a legendary countdown?
Only if the path is clean. A countdown is not a command. Boards are covered in map and spawns.
