Dont Wake the Kitty How to Grapple Home With a Kitty

Fire along the escape vector, not at the giant’s face — the hook is a door key, not a toy.

How to Use the Grappler

How to use the grappler in Dont Wake the Kitty is the search that starts after the third wipe on the plaza stairs. The Steal prompt is easy. The walk home with a Rare in your arms is the skill. Clips from Kuromi carries show the hook working while a kitty is in hand. This page is that motion. Panic sprinting stays on how to escape. Button layout stays on controls.

What the grappler is for

It is a line home. You pre-aim a roof, stall, or plot lip before you steal, then fire the moment the prompt completes. It is not a weapon. Slapping a giant Hello Kitty with a hook does not put her back to sleep.

Buy it when:

  • You already die on the last third of the carry (upgrade planner P0)
  • You hunt boards and need a skip over a giant cylinder
  • You play touch and cannot sprint-steer cleanly

Do not buy it before you have a Common on a pad. Empty plots need printers, not toys.

The carry hook, step by step

  1. Equip grappler on the hotbar in the plot, not in the plaza. Opening the backpack on a giant’s toes is a wake.
  2. Pick a steal whose exit already has a hook target: roof edge, lamp, second-floor lip, the top of your own doorway.
  3. Hold Steal. The instant the kitty is in your arms, fire along that line. Do not turn to admire the giant.
  4. Release, sprint the last studs, place on a back or upstairs pad if the rarity is raid bait (protect).
  5. Lock, then put the grappler away so the next steal does not start with a misclick hook into the floor.

Practice on Commons. A missed hook with a Mythic in hand is a highlight for someone else.

Miss recovery

Hooks that hit the floor stall you inside the wake radius. If the giant is already up:

  • Do not recast at the giant
  • Break a corner as in how to escape
  • Recast only when you have a wall or roof that faces home
  • If two giants pincer, drop a Common; keep a Mythic and reset character if the void is closer than the door

Touch players: aim is the hard part. Rotate to landscape, pinch camera up, fire at a bright roof, not at a moving chaser. If Steal and grappler share a thumb zone, pre-select grappler, steal with the prompt button, then fire. Controls covers the overlap.

Grappler versus speed

Speed helps you outrun a Melody that woke behind you. Grappler helps you skip the lane entirely. If you only have cash for one, pick the one that matches your last three deaths. Straight-line chases → speed. Ledge / stairs / second floor → grappler.

During Admin Abuse buy both if you can. The plaza is a mall. Hooks save seconds that boards do not give you.

Second-floor hooks

If your plot has stairs, the upper lip is the best hook target on the way home. Land, place the S-tier upstairs, lock. Raiders check the door first. The map page calls out the interior; this page is the line you fire to reach it without crossing a giant.

What not to do

  • Hook toward a second steal “real quick”
  • Hook into another player’s plot and eat a slap
  • Open Index mid-air
  • Practice the first hook of the night on a Secret

The stealth checklist already has “tool pre-selected.” This guide is why that box exists.

Grappler is a planned path you steal along. If you cannot name the roof you will hit, pick a farther Common and walk.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for stealth runs, steals, and base defense.

Does the grappler work while holding a kitty?

Yes in current sessions. Fire toward home. Practice on Commons first.

Should I buy grappler or speed first?

Grappler if you die on ledges and stairs. Speed if chases catch you in the open. See the upgrade planner.

Can I grappler a giant to stun it?

No. Giants are zone hazards. The hook is for terrain, not for Hello Kitty’s face.

Why does my hook miss on mobile?

Camera and thumb overlap. Landscape, pre-aim a roof, then steal. Controls has the touch notes.
