Break line of sight, hook home, and stop sprinting in a straight line across the plaza.

How to Escape

How to escape in Dont Wake the Kitty is the search that happens after a scream. Giants stand up. Hello Kitty, My Melody, Kuromi, Pompompurin, or a huge Cinnamoroll starts a chase. You are holding a steal. This page is the survival layer that sits on top of how to steal.

Death or a drop usually returns the kitty to the world or voids the carry. Your plot pads keep ticking. The goal is to keep the carry if you can, and keep the account’s dignity if you cannot.

The first half-second

Do not turn to look at the giant’s face. The camera panic is how people run into a second guard. Flick toward your plot. If you do not know where home is, you were not ready to steal — go back to getting started and landmark your doorway.

If you have a grappler, fire it along the escape vector, not at the giant “to be cool.” Clips from Kuromi steals show the hook working while a kitty is in hand. Missed hooks on the floor stall you inside the hitbox.

Pathing that actually works

  • Corners over straights. Giants have wide bodies. A right-angle around a stall or torii breaks their run more than raw speed.
  • Elevation. Stairs and second-floor plot ramps eat chase AI. Even a short ledge can drop aggro.
  • Other players as accidental shields. Not sportsmanlike, sometimes happens. Do not count on it.
  • Do not steal mid-chase. The second prompt is how double-wakes happen.

Speed upgrades help but they are not a skip. Buy them with pad cash using the upgrade planner after you survive a few chases, not instead of learning corners.

When to drop the kitty

Drop (or accept the void) if:

  • Two giants have you in a pincer
  • You are closer to a void than to your door
  • A raider is on your plot and the carry is a Common
  • The carry is a Common and the chase is eating a Legendary countdown you could still contest after a reset

Never drop a Mythic or Secret unless the alternative is a guaranteed void. Those rarities are why how to get mythic exists.

Tools besides the grappler

Slap tools show up in cousin steal games and some Dont Wake sessions. A slap might peel a player, not a giant. Do not try to slap Hello Kitty like a PvP game. Giants are zone hazards.

Coil or speed gear, if present in your shop, is for the run home. Equip before the steal, not after the roar. Controls covers swapping tools on touch without jumping.

Resetting aggro

Some chases end at the plot boundary. Some do not. If a giant follows onto your pads, keep moving in a circle around the interior so you do not lead it onto the Mythic pad (it can bump models). Once Z’s return on the giant, you can breathe.

If aggro never drops, reset character. Losing a Common is cheaper than lagging the server in a five-player instance.

Practice drill

Steal a Common on purpose near a sleepy giant, wake it, and run home empty-handed once. Learn the line. Then do it with a hold. The stealth checklist includes this drill so the first panic is not a Legendary.

Pair this page with map and spawns so your escape vector is never “through the mythic board crowd.” Crowds wake more giants than you will.

Escape is a planned path you steal along, not a reaction. If you cannot name the corner you will use, pick a farther kitty.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for stealth runs, steals, and base defense.

What happens if a giant catches me?

You typically lose the carry and may reset. Plot pads you already filled stay. Then try again with a cleaner angle.

Does the grappler work while holding a kitty?

Yes in current sessions — fire it toward home. Practice on Commons first so a miss does not dump a Mythic.

Can I hide until the giant sleeps?

Line of sight and distance help. Hiding next to its feet does not. Corners and plot interiors are more reliable.

Should I buy speed or grappler first?

Grappler if you already die on the home stretch. Speed if you never get the prompt off in time. See the upgrade planner.
